PREMIER LEAGUE TREBLE
West Brom have got rid of Pulis and signed Pardew. It seems a very strange decision and it may be a very poor one. Pardew isn’t know for organising a defence and grinding out results, and it’s hard to see them going toe-to-toe with any side in the league in the goal scoring department. Palace are able to do that with certain sides with good pace and young attacking players. They have come back from the dead to give themselves a chance at survival and have the better form of the two here.
Watford have played well this season and always look like scoring goals. The defence has been suspect at times and they were taken apart by Man United last week. They’ve struggled to keep out the better sides this season but aren’t afraid to go for all 3 points. Spurs are struggling for form with the 3 key players under-performing of late. Spurs need to win here if they are to maintain their Champions League ambitions and the open style of Watford may give them the invitation they need.
Everton responded well to the appointment of Big Sam by thrashing West Ham 4-0. They’ve struggled for goals and have been shocking defensively so it looked like the perfect remedy for them. There is still plenty of work to do for the former England manager, but picking picking up 3 points here would be a good start. Huddersfield struggle away from home but need to start picking up more points on the road. They’ve slipped towards the relegation zone and have failed to win or score in the last 3 away. Everton should have enough here.
UNDER 2.5 GOALS DOUBLE
Newcastle have lost their last 3 games and are struggling for goals. They are set up very defensively but will be allowed more space than usually against this attacking Watford side. Away from home Watford have performed well and have often found results against sides who are encouraged to open up at home. This game should be an interesting fixture as we will see if Newcastle have the quality to score in a more open game. Watford have the quality and may have enough for an away win here.
Swansea are struggling, especially at home and the injury to Abraham has made things worse. They could be bottom of the table with a defeat here and it’s hard to see where the goals are going to come from. Bournemouth put 4 past Huddersfield away last weekend and are finally finding their feet this season. Goals aren’t flowing for the strikers but last weeks performance should have eased the pressure. They are an attacking side and have improved at the back of late and should be able to pile more misery on Swansea.
Sheffield United will be looking to keep the pressure on Wolves as they look to beat a struggling Birmingham side. They are currently third in the table and are scoring goals for fun. Injuries and mistakes cost them against Fulham last week and they will be looking to rectify that result here. Birmingham are slipping towards relegation this season and recent results haven’t help. They are going to an in form side and don’t have the quality for a result here.
