Match Preview

Watford are 8th in the table on 6 points. Goal difference has them below Liverpool and Burnley, mainly due to the 0-6 thrashing by City. Their form has been good this season and they are competing with most of the league, bettering many sides. They are picking up points and wins without key players such as Chalobah, Kaboul, Cathcart, Prodl and Hoban. They have 2 wins, 2 draws and a defeat in the last 5 fixtures failing to score against Brighton and City. Silva has a good record at home and almost used it to steer Hull to safety last season. However it’s not been a great start to the year picking up just 2 points in 3 home games. They’ve scored 3 home goals all of those coming in their clash with Liverpool. They’ve conceded 9 and have kept that singular clean sheet. Richarlison and Doucoure look solid additions to the squad with Gray only managing 1 Premier League goal so far this season. The defence isn’t the best, but they are a much greater attacking threat than in recent years.  After a poor start to the season and a terrible end to last season, Arsenal have been quietly going about their business in the league. They are up to 5th in the table on 13 points, level on points with Chelsea and just 1 behind Spurs. They have won their last 5 competitive fixtures and are unbeaten in the last 5. They have a raft of injuries, as always, with Mustafi, Ozil, Welbeck, Chambers and Cazorla all out injured. They’ve failed to pick up an away win this season with just 1 point from 3 games including defeats at Stoke and Liverpool. They’ve failed to score in all of their 3 away fixtures and have conceded 5. Lacazette and Sanchez are expected to feature here, but that formidable partnership has yet to materialise. Watford play an open style of football and that should mean goals. Both sides are looking for their first home/away win of the season and both are in decent form. This should be a good game and Arsenal should edge it, but it could go either way.
